Car battery — Part 3 of 3

Post-install checks

Start the engine and confirm healthy cranking. Charging voltage at idle is usually between 13.5 and 14.5 volts on a healthy alternator.

Reset clocks, radio presets, and any windows that lost one-touch memory after power was removed.

First week

Recheck terminal clamps after a few heat cycles. Vibration can loosen clamps that felt tight on day one.

Recycle the old battery at an auto parts store or municipal drop-off. Do not leave it in a garage or shed.
